Consignments

For all consignments, we offer a very competitive 23% consignment fee, inclusive of payment processing, designed to provide a seamless and worry-free selling experience. This fee covers professional advertising, out-of-state trials, careful packing and shipping coordination, liability insurance, and thorough preparation and cleaning to present your saddle at its very best.

*A minimum consignment fee of $500 per saddle applies.

What we will do:

-Advertise your saddle locally and across social media platforms, exposing it to thousands of potential buyers

Assist with pricing your high-end, gently used saddle based on accurate and current resale market value

-Coordinate packing, shipping, and nationwide trials with care and attention to detail

-Ensure your saddle and tack are protected while in our possession through appropriate insurance coverage

-Prepare and clean each saddle prior to listing to ensure it is presented professionally

Additional Terms

-Shipping and trial-related costs are billed separately unless otherwise agreed

-Final sale pricing is established collaboratively and will not be reduced below the agreed floor without seller approval

-Consignments are accepted at our discretion based on condition, brand, and market demand

Proof of Ownership & Authority to Sell

• Proof of ownership is required for all consignment saddles.

• Acceptable documentation may include, but is not limited to, a bill of sale, original purchase receipt, or clear photographs of the saddle in use on the seller’s horse. Seller must also provide valid identification upon request.

• Saddles with altered, defaced, or missing serial numbers will not be accepted for consignment. Stolen property will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Good Faith Sale & Limitation of Liability

• Seller represents and warrants that they are the lawful owner of the consigned saddle and have full legal authority to sell it.

• All sales conducted by Ashley’s Fine English Tack are performed in good faith based on the representations provided by the Seller.

• In the event that a Seller falsely represents ownership or authority to sell, Seller agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Ashley’s Fine English Tack, its agents, buyers, and trial participants from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, investigations, or demands for physical, emotional, or monetary recovery arising from such misrepresentation.

Pricing & Exclusivity Term

• The saddle will be advertised at an agreed-upon price supported by current national resale market data from major used tack marketplaces.

• Each consignment is exclusive for a period of four (4) months, unless otherwise directed in writing by both parties. Price reductions or changes during the exclusivity period require written agreement.

A consigned saddle may be taken on a remote trial by a prospective buyer to ensure fit for a maximum of 5 days from the date of delivery. It may be shipped with insurance and tracking via FedEx. Any prospective buyer will be responsible for all damages that could result during a trial, will be subject to the signed trial contract, and a paid-in-full deposit prior to shipping.

The saddle will be safely stored and insured for theft, fire, and damage with Ashley’s Fine English Tack. Shipping insurance must cover all losses during transit.

 Personal insurance is recommended for any saddle, even when not in the possession of Ashley’s Fine English Tack.

• Processing fees to allow a safe transaction will be part of every sale. Depending on the electronic funds transfer platform used, this will range from 3.49% -5% per transaction. This amount will be removed automatically when the funds are received from the saddle’s buyer. 

• Shipping costs are buyer responsibility 

• 8% sales tax will apply to sales occurring only in New York, not out of state, which will be added to the sale price and withheld by Ashley’s Fine English Tack for filing. 

• Consignment fee of 23% of the flat sale price will be withheld- pre-tax, not including shipping.

• If the saddle does not sell during the exclusive trial period, the consignor may choose to renew or terminate the consignment period; however, they will be responsible for return shipping.

Example 1: normal priced saddle

$2,700.00– List Price

 - $621.00 (23% commission fee)

= $2,079.00 consignment payout to seller.

Example #2: low priced saddle that falls into consignment fee $500 minimum catagory:

$2,000.00 list price 

-$500.00  minimum commission fee (23% would not apply)

=$1,500 consignment payout to seller.

Ashley DeBacco DBA “Ashley’s Fine English Tack” reserves the right to terminate this agreement for any reason during the exclusive consignment period.

The consignor acknowledges that their consignment saddle will be in very good to excellent condition, gently used, and free of any major defects requiring repair or attention. This includes the integrity of leather, stitching, billet straps, tree, flocking, and panel integrity.

Saddles with any major damage or deemed temporarily unusable by Ashley’s Fine English Tack will not be sold until all issues are addressed by the consignor through a certified Society of Master Saddlers saddlery. The tree and any notable defects will be double-checked and noted upon arrival or pickup/drop-off.

If a saddle is found to be unsound in any way, it must shipped back to the consignor or recommended for repair services through a reputable third-party SMS Saddlery.

The consignor will be responsible for return or repair shipping costs if necessary

Note: For non-local consignments, the consignor is responsible for shipping the saddle to Ashley’s Fine English Tack, and insured for the declared value.

Ashley DeBacco DBA “Ashley’s Fine English Tack” reserves the right to terminate this agreement for any reason. Ashley's Fine English tack is released from liability and any transit losses while selling any consignment saddle, and this will be in every consignment contract, with a signature from seller and Ashey's Fine English Tack.
